SWEN is a small-batch luxury knitwear brand rooted in British wool, British making, and the belief that clothing should feel both meaningful and enduring.
The brand takes its name from the letters on a weathervane, a quiet nod to the rhythm of the land and the agricultural roots from which wool is born. SWEN stands at the meeting point of craft and culture: informed by Britain’s rural heritage, yet drawn to modern form, simplicity, and design integrity.
Our knitwear is intentionally substantial, knitted with extra ends of wool to achieve a weight and texture rarely found in contemporary clothing. Each sweater uses roughly the yield of one sheep’s fleece for the year. One sheep, one sweater. The result is a garment that recalls the presence of a vintage fisherman’s sweater: honest, enduring, and made to last.
SWEN works exclusively with British wool and skilled British knitters, supporting farmers and makers who share our values. Each piece is produced in small batches, intentionally limited—ensuring nothing is made in excess.
At its core, SWEN is an exploration of what it means to create with integrity: a return to natural materials, considered making, and meaningful design.
Why British Wool?
We choose British wool because it’s honest. Grown naturally on farms with some of the world’s highest animal-welfare standards, it is a fibre shaped by climate, landscape and centuries of craft. Britain is home to more native sheep breeds than anywhere else in the world, each contributing to the texture and tone of our wool.
Wool is naturally renewable, breathable and biodegradable — meaning that at the end of its long life, it returns gently to the earth.
